Support for Dairy Sector to Milk Supply Chain Efficiency Savings

The dairy sector in Wales is now able to access support through the Supply Chain Efficiencies Scheme.

The Welsh Assembly Government has announced measures to assist the dairy sector in Wales through the Supply Chain Efficiencies Scheme.

Launched in 2009 with EAFRD funding through Annex 1 of the Rural Development Plan, the scheme is designed to assist farmers, producers and foresters in Wales to develop collaborative, supply chain-focussed initiatives to contribute to a more effective and efficient industry.

Speaking at the announcement of the targeted support for the dairy sector, Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones said:

“I am very pleased to launch the Dairy Sector Supply Chain Efficiency project, which will provide the dairy industry in Wales with the information and learning opportunities required to improve the dairy supply chain in terms of efficiency, sustainability and added value.

“The project has been developed in order to achieve the relevant objectives identified in the Strategic Action Plan for the Welsh Dairy Industry to increase efficiency and to add value to commodity produce in order to gain the maximum advantage."

Funding through the scheme is available for revenue costs on projects to enable food and drink supply chain industries to develop capacity to adapt to market conditions, or develop new processes and technologies.
